Rachel grew up in an environment which exposed her to oriental philosophy and culture and became fascinated with acupuncture in particular while living in South East Asia. No longer a job, rather a way of life, she perceives acupuncture as a journey of learning and is captivated by the subject and the results that it produces.

What does acupuncture do?

What does acupuncture do?

Acupuncture is used to help maintain or re-balance the body’s equilibrium. Acupuncture aims at treating the patient as a whole, rather than the disease or the symptoms. Imbalance in our body can occur for various reasons e.g. injury, trauma, stress, lifestyle, diet, bereavement, weather, hereditary factors, infections etc.

The acupuncturist looks at the patient as a whole, finds the root of the illness and the imbalance of energy causing it. This imbalance can be corrected by the insertion of a few very fine needles that trigger the body to become aware of the imbalance and correct itself. The aim of acupuncture treatment is to address the root cause of the imbalance and improve vitality and health to the entire body, physically, mentally and emotionally.

Since all illness is the result of an imbalance of energy according to Chinese Medicine, acupuncture with its broad perspective of considering the whole person, can affect almost any illness as long as the degenerative process in the tissues of the body is not too extensive.
