Acupuncture

Traditional Chinese Medicine Acupuncture is part of a complete system of diagnosis and treatment that originated in China over 2000 years ago. Today we have inherited a great legacy of healing arts that hold solutions for many of the most stubborn and difficult health challenges.

Why?

It is viewed that health is maintained by the smooth flow of life energy or Qi. When injuries, emotions, disease, stress or poor lifestyle choices disrupt this circulation of Qi ill health and medical symptoms can quickly follow.

How?

By using hair thin needles the Qi is stimulated through specific points, which act as openings to the channels where the Qi flows. These access the internal muscles and organs of the body and through this stimulation encourage the Qi to once again flow smoothly.

What happens next?

Each appointment is approximately 1 hour long and the practitioner will take your medical history and ask various questions, some of these may seem unrelated to the reason you have come for treatment but Traditional Chinese Medicine works by looking at the body as a whole, not just the presenting symptoms.

The practitioner will also take your pulses and look at your tongue which are important diagnostic tools. They will then make a diagnosis, and talk you through the needling process or any other procedure they are going to use.
