About the Business

Bone is the scaffolding supporting the body against the forces of gravity and resisting the pull of the muscles to allow movement. Osteoporosis means ‘porous bones'.

Bones are made of a thick outer shell and a strong inner mesh, the inside looks like a honeycomb, with blood vessels and bone barrow in the spaces between struts of bone. Osteoporosis means some of these struts become thin or break and the bone becomes porous and fragile. It often remains undetected until the time of a first fracture.

Acupuncture

Traditional Chinese Acupuncture is widely used to help with physical, emotional and psychological disorders by the insertion of very fine, sterile needles to rebalance the body’s own healing energy – Qi. The World Health Authority endorses many conditions that will benefit from Traditional Acupuncture. It is important to ensure your acupuncturist has undergone a thorough and professional training.

Marilyn Richards graduated in Traditional Chinese Acupuncture and Remedial Massage in 1992 having completed 3years full time training. She then undertook post graduate training in China under the auspices of the World Health Organisation.

The initial consultation will last approximately 1¼ hours when a full medical case history will be taken. An understanding of any current medication will be required to ensure the acupuncture is fully complementary to any other treatment you may be receiving. A plan will then be discussed, subsequent sessions would normally last ¾ hour.
