About the Business

I decided to train as an acupuncturist after having treatment myself and being amazed by its effects. I found that acupuncture helped my original condition as well as profoundly improving my enjoyment of life. I decided I wanted to be able to provide the same positive health benefits for others.

I trained for 3½ years at the prestigious College of Integrated Chinese Medicine where I achieved a BSc (Hons) in acupuncture. The training combined two styles of acupuncture; Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) which is the main style used in China today, and Five Element Acupuncture which focuses more on the emotions and treats constitutional strengths and weaknesses. Combining these styles enables me to provide a treatment appropriate for you as an individual, giving physical, mental and emotional balance.

A couple of years ago I spent time at the Acupuncture Institute of Anandanagar in West Bengal, a free clinic providing healthcare to one of the poorest rural communities in India. I saw patients with everything from chronic pain or infectious diseases to children with developmental problems caused by malnutrition. Working there affirmed the benefits that acupuncture can bring to people’s lives.

Positive health is more than just the absence of disease; it’s about feeling in control of your own life and well-being. For a positive treatment outcome I believe it is important that you choose an acupuncturist that you feel you can trust and connect with. You’re welcome to call or meet me for a chat to ask me any questions you may have before you decide to come for treatment.

About Acupuncture

Traditional acupuncture is a safe and effective system of medicine that originated in China thousands of years ago and still forms an important part of mainstream healthcare there today.

In Chinese Medicine we view the human body in a holistic way. We focus on the health of the person as a whole and emphasise the connection between physical and emotional health. Every person is unique and one individual may become ill for different reasons to another. In Chinese Medicine we design each individual’s treatment accordingly.

The Chinese philosophy is that good health involves a continuous smooth flow of energy (Qi) through channels within the body. Illness, injury or emotional stress occur when Qi is out of balance or unable to circulate freely. Acupuncture works to maintain the body’s equilibrium and the flow of Qi, by inserting fine needles into specific points on the body. Someone receiving acupuncture will often report an increased sense of general well-being as well as an improvement in symptoms.
