About the Business

Sue started her career as a nurse and after having her first child was inspired to train as a midwife in 1989. She has been utterly privileged to work for the last 20 years in a midwifery group practice that places the woman and her family in the centre of their care and where continuity of care and carer is priority.

In practice this has meant that she has been in a position to contribute to making each couple’s birthing experience the most positive it could be as her pattern of work has allowed for precious time with each couple to support and guide them through their unique journey to confident birth and parenthood.

Sue has formed strong relationships with women and their families and this she believes is testament to the value of such an individualised system. Sadly this arrangement of care has been discontinued but Sue firmly believes that those same principles are at the heart of the Chinese medical philosophy and was one of the main reasons that she was drawn to this exceptional medicine.

Acupuncture

Acupuncture

Acupuncture, Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) draws its treatments and philosophy from this recognition of the connection between humanity and nature. One of the many splendours of Eastern Medicine is that there is no separation of mind, body, spirit and emotions.

TCM is based on tending to them all. The body is viewed as a complex ecosystem such as those that exist within nature and whose healthy functioning depends on maintaining equilibrium. Restoring balance to achieve and preserve good health is therefore at the heart of diagnosis and treatment in Chinese Medicine.

Acupuncture is a system of healing which has been practised in China and the Far East for thousands of years and is recognised in the West as a safe and effective form of medicine. Acupuncture works with the body’s motivating energy or ‘qi’ which flows throughout the body in channels or meridians. Very fine needles are inserted into points along the channels to access the qi and so stimulate the body’s own healing mechanisms. Acupuncture is holistic and so treats the whole person. It has the tools to diagnose the root cause of the illness as well as the resulting symptoms.

Each person is seen as unique and treatment is formulated to address the individual patterns of imbalance. Acupuncture can therefore be effective for many acute and chronic physical illnesses as well as various mental and emotional disorders. Sue strongly believes that acupuncture can serve as a valuable adjunct to the more specific, symptom focussed Western medical technologies and treatments.

Cosmetic Acupuncture:

Is a safe and holistic treatment of the face and body which aims to rejuvenate, revitalise and reduce the signs of the ageing process to give a radiant, natural glow.

Extremely fine needles are inserted to invigorate the flow of energy and blood to the face and to stimulate an increase in collagen production and muscle tone.

This is combined with body acupuncture to strengthen underlying deficiencies and balance disharmonies. The face will feel and look fresher, healthier and younger.
