About the Business

Established in 2015, Gosforth Physiotherapy & Wellness has rapidly carved out a reputation as a physiotherapy centre of excellence in Newcastle upon Tyne and across the North East of England.

Gosforth Physio & Wellness founder Kevin Kennedy [BSc Hons, PGc, MSCP, HCPC] has brought together under one roof a team of highly qualified, expert and empathetic clinicians in fields such as physiotherapy, sports injury and rehabilitation, podiatry & chiropody, acupuncture, psychology, pilates, yoga and therapeutic massage.

Kevin describes how his long-held vision has become a reality: When I first qualified as a physiotherapist, I became aware that, although there were many examples of good practice in our profession, complementary services were often fragmented and scattered.

This meant that many patients with particular issues had to seek out experts in different locations in a bid to solve their problems. It was difficult for patients – and treatments were, by definition, often piecemeal and sometimes almost contradictory.

“I was determined that, when the time was right, I would establish a practice that could deliver the best evidence-based, holistic, physical and psychological services to patients – all in one place”.

Acupuncture

Acupuncture

Acupuncture is a treatment derived from ancient Chinese medicine in which fine needles are inserted at certain sites in the body for therapeutic or preventative purposes.

Scientific evidence shows that acupuncture can reduce pain by stimulating the brain and spinal cord to produce natural pain-relieving chemicals such as endorphins, melatonin (which promotes sleep) and serotonin (to promote well-being).

These chemicals assist the body’s healing processes and offer pain relief as a precursor to other treatments such as manual therapy or exercise in order to aid recovery.

At Gosforth Physio & Wellness our therapists are skilled and experienced in all aspects of acupuncture and are specialists in the assessment, diagnosis and application of a wide range of acupuncture treatments.

I went to Gosforth Physio and Wellness to have my shoulder assessed following about a year of niggling pain. James carried a very thorough assessment and by the end of the session I knew the diagnosis, where I was in the healing process and what was needed to be done to fix it. James advised me that for this to work it had to be an active process on both our parts. Due to the chronicity of the problem he advised between 5-7 sessions but that if we weren’t seeing an improvement we would wrap things up or explore other options. 6 sessions on and I am discharged with a much better shoulder and strong home exercise programme. Thanks James for the help! Highly recommend this clinic.

I came into Gosforth Physio and Wellness one day in acute lower back pain feeling quite emotional unable to stand up straight and immediately felt comfortable and cared for after Kevin and James took the time to identify and explain what was going on with my biomechanics to cause this more chronic issue and intermittent flare ups that I get with my back. I want to say thank you because I left that day in much less pain (dry needling isn't fun but it works) feeling clear on where I need to focus to get to the roots of the issue. Thanks so much. Highly recommend this clinic!

Really good treatment at Gosforth Physio. Warm welcome always from receptionist Julie. Kevin sorted my foot problem & Jamie fixed me up with orthotics which are preventing further injuries. Pilates sessions are great - hard work but lots of humour from Kevin & James helps to make you work harder! Highly recommend.
